Workshop on Proclus’ Commentary on Euclid’s Elements

On Saturday 16 February 2013 the Trinity Plato Centre hosted a one-day workshop on Proclus’ Commentary on Euclid’s Elements. The workshop focused on three main topics

Proclus on the role of imagination in geometry, and a comparison with Kant (introduced and chaired by Stefan Storrie, Trinity College Dublin).
Proclus on the epistemic status of first principles of Geometry (introduced and chaired by Philipp Steinkrüger, Leuven).
Proclus on Plato’s critical estimation of the mathematicians — did Plato discredit mathematics? (introduced and chaired by Vasilis Politis, Trinity College Dublin).
